Initially, you would stabilize the knee and RICE the injury. Immobilze the knee joint then ELEVATE to relieve swelling. make your way to the ER where they will preform x-rays to rule out other injuries. ICE the injury for the first 24-48 hours. Wrap and COMPRESS with an ACE bandage and instruct the athlete to keep weight off the injured knee with the use of crutches.
